TOILET

Don't Flush

 

  • Hair

  • Flushable Wipes

  • Paper Towels

  • Grease, Oil, and Fat

  • Hygiene Products

Unclog Toilet

  • First try plunging the toilet.

  • Then try boiling water and baking soda.

  • Next try white vinegar and boiling water.

  • Finally flush with boiling water.

Unclog Drains

  • First try boiling water and baking soda.

  • Finally use a zip strip to unclog drains.

 

Stop Water Overflow

  • Remove toilet tank lid.

  • Lift up the fill valve

  • Pull out the water tube.

  • Reach down and turn the water valve off to the right.

Shut Off Water to Toilet

  • Find the water supply valve located to the left behind your toilet tank.

  • Turn the knob to the right to close the valve and stop water flow.


Check Toilet for Silent Leak

 

  • Check for sounds of running water, trickling or hissing sounds.

  • Add 25 drops of food coloring on the inside of toilet tank.

  • Wait 15 minutes and if dye appears in the toilet bowl, then you have a leak.

 

Shut Off Water to Faucets

  • Turn off water from faucet if possible.

  • Locate water pipes below the sink which lead to water valves.

  • Turn water valve to the right.

WASHER AND DRYER

  • Keep the washer door open to prevent mold.

  • Use Self Clean mode on washer at least monthly.

  • Clean the washer filter at least monthly.

  • Clean lint from dryer to prevent a fire.

GARBAGE DISPOSAL

 

  • Turn the power off.

  • Insert the garbage disposal wrench in the bottom of the disposal.

  • Turn the wrench back and forth until it moves freely.

  • Press reset button located on the bottom of the disposal.

  • Turn the power back on and run water to test if it works.

DISHWASHER

 

  • Rinse dishes before washing.

  • Clean the dishwasher filter at the bottom monthly.

  • Use jet dry mode monthly to prevent water build up.

BREAKERS

  • Check the breaker panel on the inside of the garage or the on side of the house for flipped switches.

  • Flip back to "ON" to restore power.

  • This often happens to the washer and dryer breakers which are located on the side of the house.

PESTS

 

  • First perform a deep clean of the area to eliminate the food source.

  • If the problem continues, most stores carry products that can resolve the specific pest problem.

  • The Landlord will inspect to ensure the home is cleaned properly to prevent pests from returning.

 

GAS STOVE

 

Smell Gas in the House

  • Turn off the gas stove.

  • Immediately leave the house.

  • Ventilate the house by opening doors and windows.

  • Call CPS Energy to report any danger.

SMOKE DETECTOR

  • If it's beeping, try to reconnect it by turning it to the left.

  • If that doesn't work, replace batteries.

  • If that doesn't work, remove batteries and hold down the test button for 15 seconds to drain remaining charge.

  • Then insert the batteries and connect it by turning it to the left.

MOLD PREVENTION

 

  • Make sure affected areas are cleaned with disinfectant and completely dry.

HOUSEHOLD

  • Perform preventative maintenance measures.

  • Report non-functioning household items immediately.

  • Keep the lawn free of debris and personal items for landscaping.
